Summary

This position will provide specialized leadership, direction, and oversight for the worship ministries at Renfrew Baptist Church which primarily consists of leadership to the Sunday Morning Experience.

Ministry Director Duties

Those recognized as ministry directors within Renfrew Baptist Church should be able to verbalize a sense of a God given calling to a vocation of Christian ministry. They should be able to articulate a theology/philosophy of ministry that shapes their engagement as a leader of leaders in a specific area. They must have gifts that are strategic to the fulfillment of the position description.

The Worship Ministries Director will serve in three critical roles: director, developer, and manager

Director

As a director, this position will develop strong relationships with volunteers, and congregants with the desire to help them grow in their relationship with Jesus and in their relationship with others. This position will also have the abilities and gifts to lead the worship ministries area effectively and comprehensively. The vision for this role is to encourage the church in worship and partner with adults to equip adults, students and children by teaching a heart of worship.

Developer

As developer, this position will purposefully and strategically train and equip key leaders to prepare them to minister to the larger church in worship. In that process this person will also train and equip key leaders to train and equip others to do the same. The vision of this role is to attract and grow future leaders, and invest in them with the purpose of increasing their leadership capacity within worship ministries.

Manager

As manager, this position will provide both short-term and long-term strategy and leadership to create and maintain a worship ministry of excellence. They are responsible for planning and maintaining necessary policies and guidelines; creating and administering ministry budget lines; and ensuring the effectiveness of worship ministries under the care of the Worship Ministries Director.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Sunday Morning Experience Team – 6 hours/week

  1. Coach, develop, and give direction to the Team Development, Skill Development and recruiting of more leaders.

  2. Lead regular meetings with the Sunday Morning Experience team to provide and receive input and evaluation on our current Worship Ministry programs.

  3. Recruit alongside of the Site Pastor - ushers, greeters, sound technicians, videographers, pro-presenter, and other positions as needed.

  4. Create a schedule that effectively utilizes volunteers to ensure that the Sunday Morning Experience is ever effective and improving.

Lead the Sunday Morning Worship Teams – 5 hours/week

  1. Regularly lead worship on a Sunday morning to model, equip and train others by watching you lead.

  2. Schedule, recruit and train other worship leaders and musicians to contribute to the Sunday morning worship team schedule.

Initiate and plan an effective Sunday Morning Experience that encompasses all facets of the Sunday Morning Experience – 4 hours/week

  1. Be an active member of the Renfrew Baptist Church Staff Leadership Team. This includes monthly worship ministry opportunities, creating content for online and printed resources, vision planning, reporting to the Council, and contributing to church-wide events and initiatives.

  2. Create and contribute to a vibrant, engaging and relevant Sunday morning experience that reflects the values and culture of Renfrew Baptist Church.

Initiate and provide care to the Sunday morning experience team members – 1 hour/week

  1. To ensure visitation and care of the Sunday morning experience team.

         Administrative Duties – approx. 1 hour/week

  1. Record keeping.

  2. Financial management of assigned budget lines..

Preferred Qualifications

  • EPost-secondary education in a related field (specialized schooling preferred).

  • Leader of Leaders - Able to develop and lead staff who in turn lead volunteer leaders.

  • Public Speaker – Skilled and experienced communicator.

  • Worship Leader – Skilled and experienced worship leader.

  • Team Player - Thrives in a team environment and enjoys collaborating with others on projects.

  • Innovative – Able to identify needs and initiate new projects and directions.

  • Flexibility – Able to adapt, take necessary risks with a team, and move at a fast pace.

  • Time Manager – Able to oversee multiple ministry areas and initiatives simultaneously.

  • Tech skills - Work efficiently within a PC environment and quickly learn new software and features.

  • Other Relevant Skills – Writing, networking, partnering with outside organizations, marketing.
